Free Download – Northwest Passage (Instrumental Version)

May 29 2014

Here is a never before heard instrumental version of Stan Rogers’ “Northwest Passage”, recorded last month for an upcoming TV series The Polar Ice.

It features Grit Laskin on concertina and small pipes along with Paul Mills and Bill Garrett on guitars.

You can download the instrumental version of Northwest Passage here.

Lovely – thank you for sharing with us all as we have recently marked the 31st anniversary of that awful day.

Dear Grit, Paul & Bill,

So many things that happen, these days, are missed by my primitive radar and subsequent scrutiny. However, due to Tina’s diligence, I was able to download and enjoy the instrumental version of Stan’s ‘The Mary Ellen Carter’, which the three of you so expertly and lovingly wove together. Your rendition takes me back to places I long to relive and has a haunting quality that draws me in, like other of my favourite maritime ballads that have most moved me over the years.

Thanks, so much, from Tina and me, for the musical treat.

All the best from old and appreciative cohort and friend,

Grit, I was not surprised to hear your mandolin, but the small pipes brought back a memory of having come by y
