Look Up
Sirens
CD BCD183
Courageous, creative
duo Donna Creighton & Jo-Ann Lawton as Sirens offer eleven original, universal musings that blend edginess
and optimism.
Look Up tackles life’s challenges, truth and dignity, all the while embracing life’s idiosyncrasies.
Band members on this recording include Don Reid (fiddle), James Hill (ukulele), Jeff Christmas (percussion), Mitchell
Tyler (bass), Dean Harrison (piano & accordion), Larry Smith(electric guitar) and Bill Garrett (guitar).
Sirens’ philosophy resonates with LIFE*SPIN, a community organization in their home town of London, Ontario whose
front-line services deal with immediate crises and problems faced by low-income people.
Produced by Bill Garrett.
"You’ll find a little Celtic hidden in a few tunes and within acoustic variants. Although often folk music
tells stories histories/herstories and other cultural-social themes, it is not easy to blend them with music that
is attentive to the universal market – the Sirens have succeeded."
-L.C. DiMarco, Folk & Acoustic Music Exchange
"Musical reflection of that edginess, blended with an underlying optimism."
-James Reaney, London Free Press
"A solid (and I mean dry-cementsolid) duo who mix musical genres and humour to create crowdpleasing
songs."
