North Wind
Aengus Finnan
CD BCD148

Gripping songs from small-town Canada, collected and written at truck-stops, graveyards, orchards, nursing homes, derelict barns, old railway lines, and a lover's door. "North Wind" is the raw, dramatic and tender new album from maverick balladeer Aengus Finnan.

Born in Dublin, Ireland and raised in Shelter Valley, Canada; Aengus was an actor, research diver, and schoolteacher before turning to songwriting. He tours North America extensively, has been awarded the Ontario Council of Folk Festivals' "Songs from the Heart" award, and recently received the "New Folk Songwriting Award" at the Kerrville Folk Festival, Texas. North Wind (his second recording, and first on Borealis) features Aengus and his touring trio with guest musicians. Ten original songs, one traditional ballad, two covers (including Orphan Hand by Juno-nominated Maria Dunn) and a radio drama version of Slaid Cleaves' song, "Breakfast in Hell".
