The Making of “So Lucky”
Rosemary’s message to Tannis and Allison in late November of 2014 was the turning over of an hourglass through which the importance of the project was amplified by every falling grain of sand. At times it was felt that they might not finish. But in spite of her failing health, Rosemary was determined to complete the album. In her own words, “my Lucky family and all the wonderful possibilities it represents is one of the reasons I’m investigating sticking around a bit longer if I can.”
By the end of March, with the help of Terry Eagan, Paul Mills, Jason Laprade and Lewis Melville in studios in London, Toronto and Guelph, 12 songs were recorded and mixed with love and care but not without difficulty. And although Rosemary was not able to make the April album release concerts in person, she still maintained throughout that she was ‘so lucky’.
